Terms and Conditions: Bulky Collection Service
This agreement is made between the customer (you) and Veolia (us) and sets out the terms and conditions of use of the bulky waste collection service for large items of household waste.
Presentation and collection of items
- The bulky waste collection service is for the collection of bulky household waste only.
- We will only collect the items you requested for collection at the time of your booking. Any additional items left out for collection will not be taken.
- The bulky service is for residents only and not for Landlords.
- When placing your booking you will be required to confirm where your bulky waste items will be left for collection.
- Items must be placed outside, on the front or the side of the property. The items need to be placed within the boundary of your property and not on the pavement/roadside.
- If you live in a block of flats, your items must be presented in a communal area, which is accessible to the collection crews.
- You must ensure that your bulky waste items are left at the place you stated when making your booking before 7am on your chosen collection day.
- Collection will take place anytime from 7am to 4.30pm on your chosen collection day.
- You must ensure your items are presented safely for collection. All items should be:
- Neatly presented on the ground and in the same location
- Not be stacked on top of one another
- Any small items should be contained in bags and double bagged and tied
- You must make sure your bulky waste is accessible for collection.
- Ensure any gates at your property are unlocked before 7.00am
- Ensure that your vehicle is not blocking access to your Bulky items
- Please bundle any dismantled items together, for example wardrobes, tables and carpet tiles.
- (Fridge / Freezer only) – All units must be free of food and defrosted.
- (Bin bags only) - Bags must be no larger than the standard 50 litre sized bags. They must also be double bagged and tied.
Non-collection of bulky waste
- If we do not collect your bulky waste on your collection day, or if we have only removed some of the items, view an update on your collection status (https://wasteservices.sheffield.gov.uk/) or call us for advice on 0114 2734567.
- If we cannot collect your bulky waste due to a presentation issue including unsafe presentation, items not presented at the agreed location, or because extra items have been presented, we will not return to collect the items and you will not be refunded for the non-collection. You will need to rebook and pay for another collection.
- If there is no access to your property because of an issue caused by yourself, such as a vehicle in your driveway, we will not return to collect the items and you will not be refunded for the non-collection. You will need to rebook and pay for another collection.
- If we cannot collect your items due to bad weather, no access to your road or property due to roadworks or traffic problems, we will make a further attempt to collect those items from your property within 48 hours.
Making changes or cancelling your collection
- If you need to make a change to your bulky waste collection including the collection date, the list of items to be collected, or the location from which they will be collected, please call us on 0114 2734567. You can make changes no later than 1 working day before your collection is scheduled to take place.
- You can cancel your bulky waste collection up to 1 working day before your collection takes place by calling 0114 2734567
- No refunds are available for collections cancelled less than 1 working day before your collection date, even if you no longer need the service
- We cannot be held responsible for items which are taken by a third party. You will not be refunded if your items are taken by someone other than Veolia unless you inform us no later than 1 working day before your collection date
Payment and booking
- Payment can be made online, or by visiting www.sheffield.gov.uk/waste or by phoning 0114 273 4567. You will need a valid credit or debit card to make your payment.
- Payment taken will show on bank statements as being made to Veolia, who provide the bulky waste collection service on behalf of Sheffield Council.
- If you live at Council Housing Services, Sanctuary Housing, ACIS, Great Places and Together Housing you may be entitled to one free collection per year.
